UMoya weNkosi uphezu kwam, Ethe ngenxa yoko yandithambisela          ukushumayela iindaba       ezilungileyo kumahlwempu, Ndiphilese      abantliziyo ityumkileyo,  ndivakalise inkululeko kubathinjwa,        Nokubuyiselwa kokubona kwabaziimfama,

Ndindulule abaqobekileyo bekhululekile, Ndivakalise umnyaka       owamkelekileyo weNkosi.

Kodwa yintoni uSindiso? NgokwaseBhayibhileni, uSindiso luntlantlo-nintsi, luquka ukusindiswa kwiimeko ezinzima zokuphila, njengoko sibona indlela amaSirayeli asindiswa ngayo eJiphutha. Ukanti usindiso lukwaquka nokusindiswa kubuthathaka bobuntu nesono, njengoko sivayo pha kwindumiso 51, emva kokuba uDavide enze ububi bokukrexeza no Bethshebha umka Uriya, waza awugqiba wambulala uUriya, athi ke ngoku Davide akuba eziqondile isono sakhe athandaze athi:

Ngokobuninzi benceba yakho, cima ukreqo lwam! Ndíxovule kunene,    busuke ubugwenxa bam, Undihlambulule esonweni sam. Ukanti kwi Testamenta entsha usindiso luquka ukukhululwa kwimeko zembandezelo, ezifana nokugula, njengoko simbona uYesu kumaxesha amaninzi, ephilisa imilwelwe, ekhupha iidimoni, ephilisa abaneqhenqa, evusa abafileyo. Ngexesha likaYesu, sibona ukuba usindiso lukwaquka ukwamkwelwa kwabo bajongelwe phantsi, njengoko simbona uYesu esamkela abantwana, abantu abongoMama, amahlwempu, nabantu abangaboni. Kwangexesha likaYesu sifumanisa ukuba usindiso luquka usindiso kwimikhwa emibi nendlela zokucinga ezinganiki ubomi, nezingakhi ubudlelwane obububo phakathi kwabantu, ezifana nokuziphakamisa, ukungangaxoleli, ukuba likhoboka lobutyebi, ukugxeka, ukungabi nahoyo ngabantu abahluphekileyo, njengoko esitsho kuMateyu 25: 42

Ndandilamibile anandipha kudla; ndandinxaniw, anandiseza;   ndandingowasemzini, anandingenisa       ndlwini; 43ndandizé,       anandambesa; ndandisifa, ndandisentolongweni, anandivelela.

Xa esithi ke ngoku uYesu, Namhlanje esi sibhalo sizalisekile ezindlebeni zenu” into ayitshoyo kukuba oko uThixo wakuthembisayo, zonke ezintlobo zosindiso, zifumana inzaliseko kuye, ngaye zizakwenzeka.

Umyalezo wezizifundo kukuba kwiintlobo-ntlobo zeengcinezelo neentsokolo esinazo, kubu thathake bethu, nezono ezisongamelayo, uYesu nguye osikhululayo kuzo, ngako masiye kuye ukuze sifumane usindiso.

  • Abo bangenwe bubulwanyana bokugebenga nokudlwengula uYesu namhlanje ufuna ukubabuyisela ebuntwini babo
  • Abo baziinkedama, abahlolokazi nabadinga imisebenzi, uYesu, unabo kuloo ntlungu, ebememela ukuba bangalahli ithemba
  • Abo bethu bazinkokheli, kodwa ngoku abasebenzela izisu zabo, ngobuqhophololo norhwaphilizo, uYesu ufuna ukubakhulula ekunyolukeni nasekuzicingeleni bodwa, bakhumbule ukuba babizelwe ukukhonza, hayi ukuzikhonza.

Moya weNkosi uphezu kwam, Ethe ngenxa yoko yandithambisela ukushumayela iindaba           ezilungileyo kumahlwempu. UYesu wawuvakalisa lomyalezo, ngexesha awayephila ngalo apha emhlabeni waza wawenza. Kodwa nanamhlanje usawuqhuba lomsebenzi wokukusindisa abantu ngabaPriste asiphe bona, nasebenza ngabo ukufeza lomsebenzi wosindiso. Sizokubathandezela ngendlela eyodwa namhlanje abaPriste bethu ukuze babe zizixhobo ezizizo zokuzisa kuni makholwa, nasehlabathini lonke olu sindiso kuthethwa ngalo kwizifundo zanamhlanje.

Kule veki iphelileyo, besintlanganiso yabaPriste, apho besizikhuphuza ngobizo lwethu lokuphilisa, nujengoko uYesu naye, phakathi kweendlela ezininzi awayesindisa ngazo, wayekwaphilisa nabantu abagulayo. Bonke abefundisi bethu ngoku bayakwazi ukwenza iinkonzo zokuthandazela abantu abagulayo. Ningaphinde niye ke kwezinye iicawa ekuthiwa ziyaphilisa, ngokuba abaPriste benu nabo bayaphilisa.

Ekubeni ke nilufumene usindiso, nani nimenyelwas ukuba niluse kwabanye abantu. U Papa uFrancis usinike lonyaka njengonyaka wenceba, esimemela ukuba sisondele kwinceba yosindiso luka Thixo. AbaPriste benu banazo uzixhobo zokunifundisa nokunicacisela ukuba lo nyaka siwuphile kanjani, kwaye senze ntoni na ngayo.

 

And now to you fellow priests, you are especially configured to Christ, and so more is expected of you in bringing salvation. As we heard from yesterday’s first reading, we were chosen from our mother’s womb, not for our comfort, but “so that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth”.

Christ depends on us as priests to bring his salvation to others. We will succeed in bringing salvation to others, when we ourselves have the experience of being saved. For this reason I continue to invite you to avail yourselves of the mercy of God, because it is when you have experienced it yourself, that you can meaningfully invite the people entrusted to your care to it. We can talk eloquently about the mercy of God, but we are likely to make an impact when we ourselves have experienced it.

 

This work brothers of bringing salvation to others, cannot be done with our skills and strength. Before Jesus applied to himself the task of bringing salvation, he declared that “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, and therefore he has anointed me. We can do this work of bringing salvation, when we are spirited by God, for apart from the spirit of God, we will find ourselves discouraged, we will end up being cynical and caving in to defeatism that Pope Francis warns about in his Joy of the Gospel.

While challenges are many in pastoral work, “we have to march on without giving in, keeping in mind what the Lord said to Saint Paul: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Cor 12:9). Christian triumph is always a cross (85). We will bring the people entrusted to us to salvation through the cross, as Christ did, and not by commanding and instructing, but through sweat and pain and frustration as it was for St Paul and the first missionaries who came to our land. Though painful when they occur, let us not be surprised by the difficulties, let us not be surprised by the crosses in pastoral work.

Let us also remember that as we suffer in bringing salvation to the people entrusted to us, we are also being purified and made holy. Through our life and work of priesthood, difficult and challenging as it is most of the time, let us remember that through those sufferings, God is working our own salvation because the God we believe in, is a God who makes all things, to work for the good of those that he has chosen (Rom. 8:28) As Jesus Christ who through his suffering and death became perfect and acceptable mediator, so we too through the difficult life of priesthood are made perfect.

As we stand up now to pray to be Spirited, as Jesus was Spirited in order to carry out his task of bringing salvation, let us also pray for this spirit to descend upon our faithful. With all the clarity and eloquence, we can explain this salvation to the people, but until the Holy Spirit works in them and convinces them of the truth of our message, they will not accept it. The gospel will only be effective for salvation in them as the Spirit of God works in their hearts, convincing them of the value of the salvation we preach. So as we pray for ourselves, let us also pray for the people entrusted to us, as they also pray for us.
